Nicky Ellender
I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1992 with a B.Sc. in physiotherapy. As a newly trained physical therapist, I worked my first 3 years in Ireland rotating departments every 3 months in a hospital setting. My goal was to gain experience in as many different settings as possible under excellent mentors. I moved to the United States in 1995 and worked for a few years as a traveling therapist. I settled in Houma in 1997 and worked for Terrebonne General Medical Center eventually running the physical therapy department. In 2001, myself and Drew opened Back To Normal Physical Therapy and have been very happy and successful in building this company.
I believe strongly in continuing education and the continuous development and refinement of my manual therapy skills. In 2010, I earned my doctorate in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine in Florida and since then I travel on a regular basis to attend seminars continuing my education and improving my skill set.
I believe there is also a lot to be learned by teaching, so I am also a clinical instructor for LSU and the University of St. Augustine and enjoy teaching physical therapy students in a clinical setting for their last clinical placement.
My job is exciting and rewarding and I enjoy the variety of personalities I connect with along the way. I’m looking forward to meeting you.

I was hired at Back To Normal in March of 2008. I worked at TGMC in ICU as a monitor tech for 12 years prior to coming to work at Back To Normal. I was hired as front office help and have worked my way up to administrative assistant. I have worked here for the past 12 years. One of the things that I like about my job is meeting and getting to know the patients. I have learned a lot since starting here and I am looking forward to continuing working and learning.
